Ex-PDP Chairman, Seven Assembly Members, Others Dump PDP For APC In Kaduna

apc-vc-pdpThe Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Kaduna State was dealt a blow yesterday when a former chairman of the party, Yaro Makama, led dozens of party members to declare for the All Progressives Congress, APC.

The defecting PDP members included seven serving members of the state House of Assembly, ex-commissioners in both the administrations of Senator Ahmed Makarfi and the late Patrick Yakowa, and 70 other party members in the state.

The late Yakowa’s Campaign Director-General during the 2011 elections, Ambassador Sule Buba, and former Chairman of Kaduna South Local Government Area, Alhaji Auwal Tafoki, were among the top party men that dumped the ruling party for the main opposition party.

They (defectors) were welcomed to their new party by the Interim Chairman of APC in Kaduna and former INEC Secretary, Dr. Hakeem Baba-Ahmed at a guest house in Malali GRA, Kaduna.

Speaking at the occasion, the former PDP chairman in the state said injustice in PDP forced them to leave the party to join the APC.

Describing the recent wind of defection that is currently sweeping across the country as a political revolution, Mr. Makama said the defectors would not “wait to be consumed by it.”

He said, “We cannot wait to be consumed by the political revolution that is happening in this country. The injustice in PDP is one reason why we left the party to the APC. As you can see most of the people here are PDP members that have played a great role in its development.

“We cannot wait in a party that cannot provide infrastructure to people of the state. This is why we want those in the PDP to know that I hardly join a party that I know will not deliver. So by 2015 APC will win elections in Kaduna”.

Information Nigeria reports that the defection comes on a day three members of the Zamfara State legislature elected under the platform of PDP dumped the party for APC.
