First Lady Drops Patience For ‘Mama Peace’

patience_jonathan_218541741The First Lady, Dame Patience Jonathan has declared that henceforth she should no longer be called Patience but ‘Mama Peace’.

She made this known yesterday at the Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa, Abuja, while inaugurating the Subsidy Reinvestment and Empowerment Programme Maternal and Child Health otherwise known as MAMA Project.

According to the First Lady, the message of peace is what she would be preaching until terrorism and militancy are brought to an end in the country.

She also disclosed that her Non-Governmental Organisation, Women for Change Initiative, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with some international health agencies and hospitals, which have agreed to build, equip and operate the best hospital for women and children in Africa.

The SURE-P MCH is a direct intervention by the Federal Government using savings from the removal of fuel subsidy to reduce the incidence of maternal and child mortality.

The First Lady said, “My name is no more Patience but now Mama Peace because I believe that without peace, there will be no more women, no more children and no more health sector. Without peace, our international community will be afraid to come and invest in our country.

“Peace is from the heart and not from the tongue or lips; not what you say but what is in you. We pray for genuine peace because peace is the key to our arriving at our desired destination as a nation.

“We are approaching the new year which is a year of peace, progress and so many good things to come. 2014 is going to be a year of no militancy and no Boko Haram because God will shower peace and make us take a U-turn from disaster”.

  1. If she wants to live up to the new name let her charity begin from home. When we see peace reigning in River State her home we start to give her suggestion consideration.
She can’t deceive Nigerians by mere change of name and not attitude. Peace can only be achieved were there is justice.
Let the first lady answer these questions: Is there justice in Nigeria? Can embezzlement and corruption bring peace? What effort has she made to influence her husband to stop encouraging corruption and injustice at all levels?
Dame should sit up like a mother, and being the first lady, she is the mother of this nation. A mother should live up to and even beyond expectations.
Her motherhood is not restricted to her immediate or nucleus family but the whole nation. The legacy she wants to leave behind should not be for her nucleus family alone but considered for the nation.
Her peace agenda is useless where corruption, injustice, maginalisation, inequality, and lies thrives. Let her influence a change.
