NFF Lines Up March 5th Friendly for Eagles.

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) is planning a friendly match for the Super Eagles on March 5 to kick-off preparations for the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil, reports MTNFootball.com.

Many football pundits and stakeholders have highlighted the need for a high-class international friendly ahead of next summer’s showpiece. It is in line with these calls that the NFF are striving towards ensuring early and adequate preparation ahead of the nation’s fifth World Cup appearance.

However, an opponent has yet to be named. The secretary to the football federation, Musa Amadu, told MTNFootball.com: “We will make use of the first Fifa friendly window on March 5 and so play a friendly in Europe.

“Issues like the training base (at the Brazil World Cup) and opponents for friendly matches will soon be decided on after last week’s draw in Brazil.”

Nigeria have been pitted against Argentina, Bosnia-Herzegovina and Iran in Group F (preliminary round) of the 2014 World Cup.

Nigeria’s first match of the tournament will be against Asians, Iran, at the Arena da Baixada, Curitiba, on June 16 before playing Europeans, Bosnia, and South Americans, Argentina, in Cuiaba and Porto Alegre on June 21 and 25.
