You Won’t Believe What Emir of Gwandu Says About Street Begging

Alhaji Iliyasu Mohammadu Bashar, the Emir of Gwandu and the Chairman of Kebbi State Council of Chiefs has frowned at street begging, especially by young children, in the name of searching for Islamic knowledge.

beggars1The Emir made the remarks at his palace in Birnin Kebbi on December 1, 2013, Sunday, during the turbaning ceremony of Alhaji Abubakar Sadig Dakingari as Sarkin Sudan Aljannare and Alhaji Manko Ibrahim Ndagi as the first Wakilin Nufawan Gwandu.

The Gwandu monarch said that begging in the name of religion should be stopped as according to him in all nooks and crannies of the state there were enough Islamic teachers to cater for religious needs of children and therefore children must not leave their homes or villages in the name of religion.

He urged the newly-appointed Alhaji Abubakar Sadiq and Alhaji Manko Ibrahim Ndagi to serve the people with diligence.
