
Vice-President Namadi Sambo on Friday appealed to Nigerians to intensify their prayer for Nigeria to enjoy a lasting peace and progress.
Sambo made this call after a special Juma’at prayer to mark this year’s Armed Forces Remembrance Day at the National Mosque, Abuja.
“We have prayed today for all members of the armed forces that had fought for this country, right from the First World War to date for their efforts in the protection of this country and for the creation of peace all over the world.
“We prayed for the repose of their souls and we also prayed for the centenary that we have reached in Nigeria.
“We will also see the next 100 years for a better Nigeria put on the foundation of transformation agenda of President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan”.
Sambo called on all Nigerians to be their brother’s keeper and always ensure peaceful and harmonious coexistence among themselves for the general good.
“We should continue to pray for peace and progress in Nigeria and this is the time that we all should come together and support this administration for the success of our Transformation Agenda”, he added.
The special prayer was led by the Chief Imam of the National Mosque, Sheikh Musa Mohammad.
The Armed Forces Remembrance Day Celebration is marked on Jan. 15. It celebrates the gallant officers and men that laid their lives in the service of Nigeria. (NAN)
