Blatter Blasts Brazil 2014 Stadia Plans.

FIFA President Sepp Blatter has accused the host nation of the 2014 World Cup, Brazil, off being badly prepared to host the tournament which begins in five month’s time.

Six of Brazil’s 12 stadiums have failed to meet FIFA’s 31 December completion deadline.

Three workers have been killed in recent accidents at stadiums in Sao Paulo and Manaus.

Construction problems and public protests about the financial costs of hosting the World Cup have delayed Brazil’s preparations for the tournament.

“No country has been so far behind in preparation since I have been at FIFA,” Blatter told Swiss newspaper.

Two workers died and one other injured at the Arena Corinthians- the stadium due to host the opening game between Brazil and Croatia- when a crane collapsed on to a part of the roof.

That accident delayed the stadium completion date by several months, and is not expected to be ready until mid April.

When asked if the country had understood the scale of the work required, Blatter replied: “No. Brazil has just found out what it means and has started work much too late.”
