Enugu PDP Vows To Resist Planned Return Of Nnamani

Chimaroke NnamaniThe Peoples Democratic Party in Enugu State has vowed to resist the reported bid of the former governor of the state, Dr. Chimaroke Nnamani, to return to the PDP.

The party Wednesday said that the plan by Nnamani, a founder of the opposition People for Democratic Change in the state, to return to PDP was a dramatic move that would never come to fruition.

The state chapter of the party was reacting to the news report in a national daily that “the Deputy President of the Senate, Ike Ekweremadu, was locked in a marathon meeting with former Governor Nnamani, ostensibly to distill the former governor’s grievances and conditions for reuniting with the PDP”.

In a statement by its Chairman, Mr. Vita Abba, the Enugu PDP said it would explore every possible means at its disposal “to ensure that such a bad omen does not revisit the party in the state”.

The statement read, “It would amount to gross disservice to the party and the state to allow such attributes of vendetta, villainy and despot to rejoin the party at this point in time the state is enjoying the highest level of peace and good governance under the leadership of Governor Sullivan Chime.

“In spite of the fact that the PDP Constitution made provision for returnees, the state chapter of the party takes exception to any clandestine move by the former governor to return to the party he worked in vain to destroy”.
