FA Cup Update and Fourth Round Draw: Forest Hammers West Ham, Mikel Scores Chelsea Opener.

Nottingham Forest trounced West Ham 5-0 to knock the struggling Premier League outfit out of the FA Cup on Sunday afternoon.

Hammers boss Sam Allardyce fielded a youthful side and the Championship club got in the lead through a Djamel Abdoun penalty after George Moncur tripped Jamie Paterson.

Allardyce’s men were not in any way a realistic match-up for the hosts as Paterson angled in a shot and slotted in from eight yards to put the Foresters 3-0.

Paterson then danced across the area and drove in a shot for his hat-trick before Andy Reid sidefooted home the fifth.

West Ham manager Allardyce said after the match: “What choice (in terms of team selection) did I have? I don’t think I had one.

“I make the decisions for benefit of everyone at the football club. We have a huge amount of problems in terms of available players.

“We have a League Cup semi-final against Manchester City and the main priority is to get to Wembley. My changes had to be severe today, I didn’t want it to be.”

Super Eagles player John Obi Mikel and Oscar scored second-half goals to earn Chelsea a 2-0 win at Derby County.

Mourinho has hinted he does not need a new striker, but the lack of goals between his three strikers consigns the Portuguese manager.

Much have been said about the masterskills of Willian in Chelsea midfielder and the summer signing from Shakhtar sent a free-kick from the left only for Mikel nod behind derby keeper Lee Grant.

Oscar made it 2-0 when Fernando Torres laid the ball to the Brazilian from the left to slam a shot home after beating off his markers.
