Fraud: Power Company Threatens To Prosecute Ex-workers

The Ikeja Electricity Distribution Company has threatened to prosecute ex-workers of the company who are going about extorting money from members of the public under the guise of receiving contributions towards repairs of IKEDC equipment and purchase of pre-paid meters.

In a statement released by the company, it stressed that no staff of the company, whether current or past was authorized to make any such demands from customers.

“We urge members of the public to rebuff these impostors and report such cases via email to: customercare@ikedc.com,” it said.

Customers are also urged to report such to the company via text message.

Among the contacts and names mentioned that customers can send text messages to, include: Akinbami F. O., 08174598396; Iyke Nzeakor, 08174598397, and Okpara Angela Nkechi, 08174598398.

Such cases can also be reported to the nearest IKEDC office.

The distribution company stressed that it was partnering with relevant authorities to ensure that the issue of vandalism, sabotage and theft will be duly addressed.

“We will stop at nothing to ensure that defaulters are duly prosecuted,” it said.
