Mourinho, Not Desperate for the League Title This Season.

Chelsea FC coach Jose Mourinho says he is less concerned with lifting the Premier League trophy this season.

The Portuguese boss is rather interested in building a team that will dominate the English league for years to come.

“We are not desperate to win the title, I keep saying the same. We want to build a team for the future, find a transition between the Chelsea of the last decade and Chelsea of the next decade. But we will try to fight for the title until the end,” he said at his pre-game conference ahead of Sunday’s clash with Manchester United.

Chelsea’s next league opponent have gone from being a major threat in the title run-in to struggling to finish among the top four following the departure of Sir Alex Ferguson at the end of last season.

Moyes Should be Given Time, Says Mourinho.

David Moyes has found it difficult to channel a new course for the Red Devils since taking charge, with the club sitting seventh in the Premier League, nine points adrift of their next opponents and third-placed Chelsea.

The Blues’ form has been more impressive compared to the dwindling fortune at Old Trafford. They have only conceded a goal in five successive games- all of which they’ve won.

The absence of the champions’ top scorer and Dutch striker Robin van Persie have impacted on the team’s result. Most notably, the loss of Rooney, 28, with a groin injury on New Year’s Day.

United have lost two of their three games since the Englishman’s injury.

But Mourinho hopes the pair are fit for Sunday’s must win encounter at Stamford Bridge.

“I prefer Rooney and Van Persie to play,” Mourinho opined. “The best thing is to play against the best players. The concentration, motivation is bigger when they are there so I hope they are.”

On the decline in United’s fear factor post-Ferguson era, Mourinho insists Moyes has to be giving time to build a new and better players at the club.

“The club gave him (Moyes) fantastic trust, it’s a club with a fantastic culture who believe in the manager. He will at least have the time of his contract to build a team and reach success for many years.”
