Sen. Ali Ndume, representing Borno South Senatorial District, has faulted the Nigerian Air Force for denying that its fighter plane dropped bombs on his motorcade.
Ndume (PDP-Borno) made the claim in response to a statement by the Air Force that its aircraft did not target his motorcade at a news briefing in Abuja on Wednesday.
Ndume said NAF had no basis to deny the incident, saying: “Now the Air Force is saying nothing happened. They are lying, I can say that now”.
Ndume, who also heads the Senate Committee on Millennium Development Goals, however, said he did not intend to blow the matter out of proportion.
He said his explanations became necessary to put the incident in its proper perspective to ensure that Nigerians did not perceive him to be out to rubbish anyone or institution.
“The objective of this briefing is to clarify the situation and not to join issues with anybody.
“I don’t want to say anything to heat up the polity but just to state my own side of the story”, he said. (NAN)
