Okey Emordi to Lead Pillars in the 2013/14 Season.

Glo Premier League champions Kano Pillars have confirmed the appointment of Okey Emordi as their new coach.

The club received approval from the Kano State government for the former Enugu Rangers coach to lead the ‘Sai Masu Gida’ to the forthcoming Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) season, chairman Abba Yola was quoted by MTNFootball.com as saying.

“We wish to thank the government for approving the appointment of Okey Emordi as the new coach of Pillars,” Yola said.

“The coach will start work with immediate effect.”

Emordi and another former Pillars coach Kadiri Ikhana were interviewed for the job.

He led Enyimba to the 2004 Caf Champions League title. He will reunite with Abdul Maikaba, who he worked with at the Aba-based club.

The Kano State-owned club had earlier revealed to the news media the appointment of Kabiru Baleria as the team’s technical adviser.

Emordi succeeds Mohammed Baba Ganaru, who left the club for Nasarawa United in the off season, after he led Pillars to retain the Nigeria league title in October.
