See Punishment 25-Yr-Old Man Got For Stealing Nokia Phone

An Abuja Senior Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday sentenced a labourer, Isaac Wilson, to one month in prison for stealing a Nokia cell phone.

courtThe Senior Magistrate, Mrs Asmau Akanbi, convicted Wilson, 25, of Apo Village, Abuja after he pleaded guilty to the two counts of criminal trespass and theft.

Akambi, however, gave the convict an option to pay a fine of two thousand naira.

The magistrate cautioned Wilson to desist from crime, noting that the punishment was to serve as deterrent to others.

Earlier, the Prosecutor, Cpl. Simon Emmanuel, told the court that one Salisu Yakubu of Jabi, Abuja, lodged a report against the accused at the Life Camp Police Station on Jan. 19.

He said that the convict entered the complainant’s shop with a piece of paper, requesting for the description of a house.

The prosecutor said that while Yakubu was trying to give the description to the convict, he stole the complainant’s Nokia phone.

Emmanuel said that Yakubu, with the help of passersby, ran after the convict and collected the phone from him.
