police paradeThe Assistant Inspector-General, AIG, in charge of Zone 10, Amman Sule, on Thursday in Birnin Kebbi assured political parties that the zonal command would remain neutral in the 2015 general elections.

The Zone 10 of the Nigeria Police force comprises Kebbi, Sokoto and Zamfara states with headquarters in Sokoto.

The AIG gave the assurance in Birnin Kebbi on Thursday, during an interactive session with officials of political parties in the state.

He said the police would be strict in the discharge of their constitutional responsibilities of keeping law and order and not engaging in partisan politics.

“The zonal command would discharge its duties without fear or favour as we are not members of any registered political party”, he said.

He said the police and other security agencies in the zone would create a synergy through collaborative effort to ensure that electoral laws were not violated by political parties.

“We would work round the clock for the conduct of a hitch free elections in 2015 devoid of intimidation, molestation or ballot box snatching”, he said.

He however, warned political parties against indiscriminate display of campaign posters, thuggery, and the use of abusive language.

He also reminded politicians that the embargo on campaign is still in place.

“The political parties must therefore, wait for the appointed time to campaign”, he said. (NAN)
