Adebayor Scores Twice as Spurs Shoot Four Past Newcastle.

An Emmanuel Adebayor brace ensured Tottenham Hotspur continue in their pursuit of Champions League football in the 4-0 win at Newcastle United.

The Togolese international opened scoring for Spurs on 19 minutes, tapping in after goalkeeper Tim Krul had palmed Nabil Bentaleb’s cross into his path.

He played a part in the visitors’ second, when Paulinho pounced home the rebound of the striker’s shot, initially kept out by Krul.

Adebayor, who was not even listed in the White Hart Lane club’s team for the season by their ousted manager, doubled his tally from a volley into the ground that bounced over Krul in the 82nd minute.

Chadli completed scoring for the ‘Lilly Whites’ six minutes later with a marvelous strike from the edge of the area- his first account for Spurs, who are now seven points adrift of leaders Chelsea.

“The boys looked sharp from the start,” said Tottenham boss Tim Sherwood. “We’ve got to keep on the tail of Liverpool.

“They are relentless. I hope they keep on checking over their shoulders and see Spurs are still there.”
