Amaechi Faction Of NGF Acting Out APC Script – Jang

Amaechi-JangThe factional Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum, NGF, and Governor of Plateau State, Mr. Jonah Jang, has described the faction led by his Rivers State counterpart, Mr. Rotimi Amaechi, as acting out a script written by the All Progressives Congress.

Since its chairmanship election in May last year, where both Jang and Amaechi claimed victory, the NGF has been split into two and currently operates parallel secretariats.

Amaechi had met with members of his own faction of the NGF in Abuja on Monday night to deliberate on the suspension of the Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria, Malam Sanusi Lamido.

The Forum in a communiqué read by Amaechi after its meeting in the wee hours of Tuesday, flayed President Goodluck Jonathan for suspending Sanusi, saying the move was a violation of the Constitution and the laws that established the CBN.

However, Jang in a statement by the Media Office of his faction, on Wednesday, berated the NGF under the leadership of Amaechi. The statement was signed by Mr. Kassim Yakubu.

The Plateau governor said the Amaechi-led faction was playing politics with the suspension of the CBN governor, noting that “Nigerians have grown weary of Governor Amaechi turning every issue even beyond his purview into a political opportunity”.

He noted that the faction led by the Rivers governor was not speaking on behalf of the governors in the country, stressing that a vast majority of governors “do not share in the anti-Federal Government zeal that the Rivers State governor champions as evident in the ever-reducing number of governors he parades”.

He added, “Nigerians want governors to perform their primary functions of running their states and not this obsession with President Jonathan by governor Amaechi and his cohorts.

“My advice to them is that Nigerians and history will decide if President Jonathan has performed as President. This lowly behaviour will not win them any election”.
