Bayern Prepared to Scale Arsenal’s Hurdle- Muller

Bayern Munich will be prepared to “go to the pain barrier” in Wednesday’s European Champions League round of 16 tie at Arsenal, says midfielder Thomas Muller.

The Germany international admits the game at the Emirate Stadium will be a difficult one, but counts on the improved form of the Bavarian giants, who have only lost once in 34 games this season, to end the ‘Gunners’s’ ambition.

“It’ll be a tough game in London- we know we’ve got to go to right to the pain barrier,” said Muller.

“We’re off to London feeling good and with a great run under our belts.”

The match is a repeat of last season’s last-16 tie between both opponents. Bayern- then under the tutelage of Jupp Heynckes- defeated Arsenal 3-1 away before losing 2-0 at home in the second leg on their route to clinching a treble of titles.

But since former Barcelona coach took over, the German and European champions have only lost twice- against Borussia Dortmund in July’s curtain-raiser to the German season (the DFB Super Cup) and against Manchester City in the final group game of the Champions League.

They are the runaway leaders of the Bundesliga by 16 points, having managed 19 wins and two draws.

The other time they have faced Arsenal in the round of 16 of the same competition was in the 2004/05 season, when two Claudio Pizzaro’s goals helped them record a 3-2 win over the North London outfit.
