Northern States Christian Elders Forum (NOSCEF) has called on the newly inaugurated service chiefs, especially the Chief of Defence Staff, Air Marshal Alex Badeh to urgently deliver on President Goodluck Jonathan’s order that security be restored to Borno State.

The group made this call in a statement co-signed by its vice chairman, Dr. Michael Ango and national secretary, Emmanuel Subilim, and also expressed disgust at the continued attack on Christian communities in the North.

Members of the Boko Haram sect had recently killed over 60 residents of Konduga, a community in the state, an attack which sent shock waves across the environs, prompting the President’s order that something drastic be done to resolve the security challenge, saying “we will not sleep until people in Borno State can sleep.”

“We are deeply upset and horrified to learn of yet another callous act of violence committed against our fellow Northern Nigerians in Konduga, Borno State. We, in NOSCEF, believe that all Nigerians have the right to speak out and worship freely, without the threat of violence or intimidation,” the forum said.
