An Ado-Ekiti Customary Court in Ekiti State has dissolved a seven-year-old marriage between Olubodun Kunle and his wife, Dupe, over assault, adultery, frequent fighting and lack of care for the children.
He added that she was fond of quarrelling with their neighbours and would not take to corrections.
The father of three further said that his wife was fond of leaving home early and coming back late without caring for the welfare of the children and him.
According to him, he once caught his wife with another man in her shop and later got to know that the man was her former boyfriend.
Thirty-two-year-old Dupe denied the allegations of frequent fighting and adultery, and told the court that all efforts to reconcile with her husband proved abortive.
The court president, Mr. Joseph Ogunsemi, in his judgment, held that the marriage had broken down irretrievably, adding that there was no room for amicable settlement any longer.
Ogunsemi dissolved the marriage and awarded custody of the children to the wife. He also ordered that the husband should be responsible for the payment of the children’s school fees.
