Police Recover Body Of Slain Man In Kogi

The body of late Mohammed Farouk who was assassinated some weeks back at Lafia quarters in Okene by gunmen had been discovered by the police in a thick forest along Obeiba – Egge road in Adavi Local Government of the State.

The State Commissioner of Police, Alhaji Saidu Madawaki who led a delegation to the scene said the decomposed body was found following the arrest of two suspects, Saka and Wahab Eya; whose information led to detect the spot where the body of Farouk was thrown into the forest.

Madawaki said the suspects will soon appear before the court to face the full wrath of the law after a thorough investigation had been concluded but could not say if the murder has ritual undertone.

However, the chairman of Okene Local Government Area of Kogi State, Ahmed Ogembe has condemned the recent spate of assassination in the Local Government area.

Ogembe who stated this in Okene following the gruesome murdered of yet another community leader in the area, Chief Ben Ochu Baiye and that of Mr. Mohammed Farouk.

Ogembe who said the continuous spate of assassination of law abiding citizens is causing the Local Government much concern, appeal to the gang masterminding the nefarious act to refrain from the murderous.

While reiterating that no meaningful development could be achieved in the absence of law and order, he called on the people of the area to sustain peace and report suspicious movement to the enforcement agencies.

He commended the securities operatives for their effort at finding the body of the slain victims; tasking them to ensure the security of the innocent people.

However, the medical Director of the Zonal Hospital Okene, Dr. Abdulsalam Abubakar who conducted the autopsy said the report of the slain victims whose head and private part have been dismembered will soon be made public. [Vanguard]
