Following attacks by suspected members of the Boko Haram sect on the military, and threat letters to students asking them to leave, students of the College of Education, Hong, Adamawa State have started vacating their campus.

Confirming the letter, College Provost, Dr Johnson Pongri said he was aware of five letters purportedly written by members of the group.

He said that though he doubted the authenticity of the letters, he had, however, communicated the receipt of the letters to the security agencies.

“I have also invited the local vigilante to beef up security in the school,” he said, adding that only few students had left the school.

Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in Yola, DSP Mohammed Ibrahim, confirmed that the command was informed of the threat, adding that the police was investigating to ascertain the authenticity of the threat. [NAN]
