Atletico Madrid striker David Villa is a major doubt for Wednesday’s Copa del rey semi-final first-leg game at Real Madrid.
Villa, 32, suffered a thigh injury during the Los Rojiblancos’ 4-0 thrashing of Real Sociedad, and was replaced few minutes to the interval after netting the hosts’ opening goal.
Both Madrid rivals have been successful in the Spanish League Cup, with Atletico having won it 10 times and Real on 18 occasions.
Meanwhile, Real forward, Cristiano Ronaldo, will be available for the match despite his red card against Athletic Bilbao on Sunday.
Gareth Bale, who missed Sunday’s 1-1 draw with a calf injury, is also expected to be available.
“Bale is available to play,” the Los Blancos manager Carlo Ancelotti said. “He trained well.”
