Governor Mu’azu Babangida Aliyu on Tuesday disclosed that President Goodluck Jonathan is expected in Minna, the Niger State capital on Saturday.
He made the disclosure after receiving the North Korean Ambassador to Nigeria, Mr. Jong Yong Chol, who paid him a courtesy visit at Government House, Minna.
Aliyu, who is Chairman of the Northern States Governors Forum, NSGF, and self-appointed leader of the now defunct G-7 Governors, also stated that all the 18 governors elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) are expected to accompany the president on his visit to the power state. He did not give further details.
Information Nigeria reports that President Jonathan has so far visited Sokoto, Imo and Kwara states where he welcomed defectors from other political parties into the PDP. The purpose of the visit is not yet known as there are no reports of any prominent politician, who has defected to the ruling party in Niger State.
Already, the Trade Fair complex in Minna is already wearing a new look as part of preparations for the visit. Mr. Jonathan may address a political rally at the complex, it was further learnt.
