Gullit who is an Ambassador of the Heneiken trophy tour to Nigeria spoke Thursday at the presentation of the trophy to the media at the Eko Hotels.

‘’Indeed,  I watched  the Eagles when  they won the African Cup of Nations in South Africa. Since then,  they have grown in confidence and understanding.  And Coach Stephen Keshi  has been doing a very good job on the team”, he said to a sporadic applause from the audience.

The former European footballer of the year, World footballer of the year, Dutch Sportsman of the year  said that the warm weather in Brazil during the mundial would also be an added advantage to the Super Eagles.

‘’It’ll  be difficult for European teams to handle  the hot weather.  That  will be an advantage to African teams and this is where the Eagles come in. The weather  will be to their advantage and I think that Nigeria is always blessed with talents.  We had great talents like Sunday Oliseh(pointing to him), Jay Jay Okocha, Finidi George, Christian Chukwu  and many others.

He said that he has had beautiful time in his first visit to Nigeria. Speaking on Nigeria’s chances in the World Cup, Oliseh said that Nigeria had nothing to lose other than to do well in the World Cup. ‘’Keshi won the African Cup of Nations and has been doing well. The Confederation Cup did not go down well and nobody should be blamed.

I think that our Press should be positive in their write-ups because their writings have a way of impacting on the payers.
