Apo Killings Report For Release On April 8

After carefully investigating the killing of people alleged by security agencies to be members of the Boko Haram sect at Apo Legislative Quarters in Abuja, the Governing Council of the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) will on April 7th release the report of its findings.

“Council considered a draft report of its Panel of Inquiry into the Apo Killings of 20 September 2014 and approved the release of the report to the public,” according to a communique released after the council’s meeting in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

“Accordingly, Council directed the Executive Secretariat to issue Hearing Notices to all the parties to attend the sitting of the panel for the release of the report and decision of the commission on 7 April 2014.”

The council, while condemning the incessant killing in the north therefore urged government at the federal and state levels to take urgent steps to arrest the situation.
