Bayelsa United were edged 2-1 by Zimbabwean outfit How Mine on Saturday in the first leg of their Orange Caf Confederations Cup second round tie.

Bernard Okorowanta grabbed an opening away goal for the ‘Restoration Boys’ in the 47th minute, but the hosts leveled six minutes after the hour mark.

The Nigerians were headed for an away point in the closing stages of the game until How Mine were awarded an injury time penalty, after Mutiu Adegoke’s was adjudged to have fouled inside his box.

The hosts converted the spot kick with almost the last kick of the tie to claim victory in front of their fans in Bulawayo.

The return leg comes up in Sapele next weekend.
