Senate president David Mark has condemned last Thursday’s attack on the convoy of his advance team in Orlu, Imo State, by suspected gunmen. The convoy was heading to Nkwere local government area of the state for the burial ceremony of late businessman, Sir John Richard Anyaehie.
Although no life was lost from the attack, Mark, who chose to go to venue of the burial in a helicopter, speaking shortly after the incident, condemned the daring attack on his convoy, stressing that it was least expected from that part of the zone.
He lamented that the attack could take place when Anyaehie, whom he described as a great philanthropist that united the people of Orlu Senatorial zone with his wealth and kindness, was being buried.
He described the deceased as an honest man and good adviser, whom he benefited from as a young military major in Port Harcourt, adding that his first encounter with Anyaehie was the greatest part of his life.
