david_mark_senate_presidentThe Senate President, David Mark, has described the sudden death of Senator Simeon Olasunkanmi Oduoye, a former military administrator of Niger State as a huge loss to the nation.

Senator Mark, in a condolence letter to the family of the deceased, stated that Oduoye was a distinguished military officer and a fine legislator.

According to him, the late lawmaker was a gentle man of high standing, adding that he contributed his quota to national development.

While recalling Oduoye’s days in the Senate, Mark said: “Senator Oduoye was a fine parliamentarian, an astute administrator and a God fearing Nigerian.

The senate president further said: “He lived his life for the services of our dear country. As the then Military administrator of Niger and Ebonyi States, Senator Oduoye was a disciplinarian, a responsible and trustworthy gentleman.

“We will surely miss his calm disposition and patriotism. We, in the Senate, are proud to have associated with him and we will continue to remember him”.

He, therefore, called on his immediate family to take solace in the fact that the late Oduoye lived an exemplary life worthy of emulation and urged them to sustain his legacy of hard work, dedication and selfless services to society.

Information Nigeria reports that Oduoye, aside serving in the sixth Senate, was a retired Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) and Military Administrator of Ebonyi states.
