Immigration Recruitment Stampede: They died Because Of Their Impatience – Interior Minister

Minister of Interior, Mr. Abba Moro, has reacted to the deaths of over a dozen applicants who died in stampedes across several examination centres of the Nigeria Immigration Service recruitment exercise.

The deaths occurred in Abuja, Lagos and Minna.

Moro blamed the victims for their deaths saying it happened because of their impatience.

“The applicants lost their lives due to impatience; they did not follow the laid down procedures spelt out to them before the exercise. Many of them jumped through the fences of affected centres and did not conduct themslves in an orderly manner to make the exercise a smooth one. This caused stampede and made the enviroment unsecured,” said the tmin

  • How irresponsible! if i were in your shoes honourable minister, i would rather keep quiet than making this type of comment. are you saying that the pregnant ones that died also were trying to jump over the fence? The interview sessions were fixed for those centres apparently because much crowd was expected. what crowd management measures were put in place sir? some families have just been thrown into mourning and in less than 24hrs, you are making such statement? Well, some of us are not disappointed in you sir because what you dont have you cant give. in your wisdom, this is the best you think you should say at this time.

  • Mr minister you are a mad man to have said that concerning those innocent souls. God will not forgive for such a comment. Nonsense administration, full of frustration

  • It does not lie in thos man’s mouth to speak bad of the dead, instead, he is supposed to have resighned for his incompetency & lack of intelligence, I pray that before this year ends, he will step into the bereaved shoes when God strikes down his most promising child too. Amen.
