nysc-members2-638x300Gov Rabi’u Kwankwaso of Kano State on Thursday assured the 1,900 corps members deployed to the state of adequate security during their stay in the state.

Kwankwaso gave the assurance at the swearing-in of the corps members at the orientation camp in Karaye, Kano.

Represented by the Commissioner for Information, Prof. Farouk Jibril, the governor urged parents and guardians to join hands with the government in prayers to ensure continuous peace in the country.

He said “prayer is the only weapon to ensure security of lives and property in the country”.

The governor urged the corps members to be security-conscious wherever they were posted for their primary assignments.

He added that “only Allah can assure mankind of adequate security, hence the need for us to pray to Him to provide us with the necessary security because human beings can only try their own part”.

Earlier, the state Coordinator of the NYSC, Mr Sanusi Abdulrasheed, said adequate security measures had been put in place to ensure a hitch-free orientation.

He said “I want to assure you all that there is no cause for alarm, as adequate security measures have been taken to ensure the success of the programme.

“The orientation is a vital element of the service year because it provides an opportunity for the corps members to actualise the ideals of the scheme”, he said.

He said a total of 1, 900 corps members were registered, made up of 1,100 males and 800 females. (NAN)
