Sack And Prosecute Corrupt Officials – Fagge Tells Jonathan

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) calls on President Goodluck Jonathan to fire and prosecute corrupt public officers in his administration, to act as a deterrent to others, said ASUU National President, Dr. Nasir Fagge, at a symposium at the University of Ibadan, Oyo state.

In the opinion of the union leader, the Nigerian legislation which provides covering up of corruption crimes of the officials, is against the masses, who suffered from their stealing of public wealth belonging to the nation.

Demonstrating concern over the scandals happening at the corridor of power, Fagge believes that the present leadership is not to be trusted and urged Nigerians to demand accountability from governments at all levels.

According to him, Nigerians must demand accountability from those at the helm. Fagge said in normal and sane climes, heads ought to roll anytime there is scandal, adding that it is regrettable that corruption has become endemic, hampering growth and development, with no effort made to curtail it.

As for the situation regarding the fees rise at the Lagos State University (LASU), ASUU boss vowed to frustrate the hike, which he said was capable of denying students access to public education.
