Ten-Man City Downs Hull

Manchester City recovered from an early captain Vincent Kompany sending off to beat Hull City at the KC Stadium on Saturday.

Goals from David Silva and Eden Dzeko helped Manuel Pellegrini’s side seal victory and move up to second in the Premier League log with Liverpool and Arsenal both set for Sunday kick-off.

Referee Lee Mason issued Kompany the marching order for bundling over Nikica Jelavic as the Croatian ran towards goal ten minutes after the start.

The hosts failed to create clear-cut goal-scoring opportunities despite maintaining a relatively larger possession.

Many had thought City were in for a third consecutive loss, following Kompany’s dismissal.

But Spaniard, Silva, had other ideas of his own; giving goalkeeper Alan McGregor little opportunity to rescue his swerving short from the edge of the area four minutes later.

He would later turn provider for Eden Dzeko, whose left-footed shot sealed all three points for the Manchester outfit on the nick of full time.
