Governor Idris Wada of Kogi State has flagged off the construction of 16 kilometres Ganaja/Otokiti dual carriage way in Lokoja, the state capital.
Flagging off the road, which is expected to gulp N2.9 billion, the governor cautioned the contractors against doing a shoddy job even as he warned government officials, who connive with contractors, would be kicked out.
According to Wada, the project when completed, would not only check traffic in the capital city, but also boost socio-economic activities of residents.
“There is alarming increase in the influx of people to Lokoja in view of its strategic location, hence the need for a by-pass”, he said.
The road project has a completion date of 18 months.
