2 Killed As Cultists Fight Over Politician’s Largess In Ogun

A clash between cult groups in Ijebu Ode, in Ijebu Ode local government area of Ogun State, Sunday night led to the death of two persons, reports have said.

One person was said to have been killed at the popular 9/11 lounge and bar, along Adeola Odutola Road while the other person was shot at Oju ega area, off Idomowo street, Ijebu Ode.

It was gathered that the deceased were both members of the Eiye fraternity and they were attacked by the rival Aiye group.

Sharing of largesse given to them by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) financier in Ogun state, Prince Buruji Kashamu at a party event in Ijebu Ode on Saturday was said to have led to the fracas.

According to an eyewitness, “The crisis has just begun because these boys started this trouble since Saturday after they left Obalende area where the PDP was doing a programme. It was after the programme that Buruj Kashamu gave them some money, I don’t know the amount. And in their usual character, they began to fight one another and in the process, some people went away with the money.

“So, yesterday around 4:00pm, we heard that they got the boy that ran away with the money and they pursued him and the boy was finally seen around 7:30pm and the next thing we heard was that he has been killed while relaxing at 9/11 base”.

The witness further revealed that the other boy was shot at the chest in a close range as he died before any help could come his way.

“It seems they have been on the trail of that boy, I don’t know him, but what we heard was that, immediately they sighted him, they just pull the trigger and fired him. No one could say what transpired between them. Now their members have vowed to retaliate and you know what that means in Ijebu-Ode,” the witness said.
