The draw for the First and Final Round of Qualifiers of the Orange African Cup of Nations (Afcon) 2015 was concluded at the Caf headquarters in Cairo, Egypt, on Sunday, 27 April.
Each group in the final round comprises of a seeded team, seven of them distributed across each group as leaders, one qualifier and two other nations.
A two-legged round of first round of qualifier matches determines the one qualifier, which joins the final round of qualification.
The first leg of first round qualifiers comes up in the weekend of Friday, 16th May, while the return leg is slated for a fortnight later.
The final round of qualification matches comes up in the month’s of September (5-6, 10), October (10-11, 15) and November 14-15, 19).
Group winners and runners-up of each group and the third-best team will join hosts Morocco for the final tournament.
In rare cases where more than one team are tied for best 3rd place spot, a one-match playoff in Morocco will take place to decide the final spot.
The Organising Committee of Afcon 2015 earlier announced at a meeting in Cairo that the tournament will be played from 17th January through 8th February 2015.
The Final Group Stages draw for the 30th edition of the Afcon comes up on 26th November 2014, on conclusion of the final round of qualifier.
