Nigeria’s only remaining representative in continental football championships, Bayelsa United, are “ready” to pit their wit against Sewe Sport de San-Pedro.
The ‘Restoration Boys’ visits the Stade Auguste Denise this weekend for the first leg of their Caf Confederations Cup Playoff round (1/8th round) tie with the Ivory Coast champions.
Speaking with Daily Trust in Abuja, the Nigerian club chairman, Mr. Odogu Akpofini, said they are focused and adequately committed to overrun their foes, despite knowing little about the coach Rigo Gervais-led team.

Akpofini said: “In terms of commitment the team is ready to do Nigeria proud. We are taking every game as it comes. We have little clue about our Ivorian opponent, Sewe Sporting FC of Cote d’Ivoire but I am confident that we will carry the day”.
While describing the exit of the club’s former manager Ladan Bosso as shocking and ill-timed, Akpofini commended the current technical crew for their performance both in the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) and on the continent.
He stressed the Yenagoa-based outfit’s “target is to clinch the Confederations Cup” and “not only to make impact”.
