Boko Haram Claims Responsibility For Nyanyan Bombing In New Video

Boko Haram emir Abubakar Shekau makes his first major video appearance

Leader of the Boko Haram Islamists sect Abubakar Shekau has claimed responsibility for a bombing in Nyanyan, Abuja, which led to the death of over 70 commuters in Nigeria’s capital.

“We are the ones that carried out the attack in Abuja,” Shekau said in the 28-minute video message, referring to Monday morning blast in Abuja.

Shekau who rested a kalashnikov rifle on his left shoulder and was dressed in military uniform spoke in both Arabic and the Hausa language in the message dellivered to AFP/#>

Most of the insurgents’ violence in recent months had been concentrated in the group’s remote northeastern stronghold, where the military is waging an 11-month-old offensive.

Shekau indicated that Boko Haram has fighters based in the capital, as he told President Goodluck Jonathan, “We are in your city.”

Shekau has been declared a global terrorist by the United States, which has put a $7 million bounty on his head.
