Borno School Girls: Ali-Modu Sheriff Condemns ‘Ignoble’ Act, Calls For Prayers

1-25011N.-Ali-Modu-Sherrif-650x400Ex-governor of Borno State and chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, Senator Ali-Modu Sheriff, has condemned the recent abduction of over 200 female students of the Government Girls Secondary School, Chibok, Borno State by suspected Boko Haram gunmen.

Mr. Sheriff, who made this known in a statement he personally signed, said the abduction of the girls and other incidental acts of violence being perpetrated on citizens by the insurgents was the height of insensitivity that all Nigerians must rise in unison to condemn.

He said at times like these, citizens must turn to God in prayers for His mercies.

His statement reads; “I wish to join other Nigerians in adding my voice to the condemnation of all acts of terrorism and aggression against the Nigerian state and fellow citizens.

“I wish to particularly condemn the abduction of innocent school girls in Chibok, in my home state, Borno, and call on all Nigerians, irrespective of their religious, political inclinations to rise up against such ignoble acts.

“The nation must rise up against this shear madness and affront on all Nigerians. It is the height of insensitivity for innocent school girls to be taken out of their learning environment and be subjected to the criminal livelihood of these insurgents.

“As former governor of Borno state, I am saddened that our people are being subjected to horrific experiences occasioned by the condemnable activities of the Boko Haram, which agenda is to destabilize the country and subject Nigerians to undeserved conditions.

“I am confident that Government at all levels are doing everything possible to get the roots of the matter and bring this madness to an end, but suffice it to say at this juncture that all Nigerians must rise up in unison to condemn these people and offer useful information on how they can be contained.

“My heart goes out to my people every time one life is lost, or any citizen subjected to unbecoming experiences, and I have always condemned such acts in my heart. We must intensify prayers and rededicate ourselves in these trying times, so that Nigeria can progress”.

  1. The originator of Boko haram himself trying to score cheap political point. I wish he knows that every prayer being fired @ the boko haram will also affects him. His hands are also stained with the blood of the innocent ones. He is a member of Boko Haram. God will surely judge him just like every member of the sect cause he’s not better than them
