Wilfried Bony scored a brace and Jonjo Shelvey produced a wonder goal as Swansea pounced Aston Villa to guarantee their Premier League survival while endangering their opponents’ chances.
Ivory Coast international placed the Welsh outfit in the lead within ten minutes of kick-off, as Shelvey picked him out with a simple through ball to slot past goalkeeper Brad Guzan.
Gabriel Agbonlahor converted Marc Albrighton’s cross from the right to restore parity from six yards of goal in the 22nd minute.

Shelvey then scored a goal of the season contender minutes later, controlling a clearance in the centre circle; he volleyed his shot over a desperate, Guzan, back-tracking to his goal post.
Pablo Hernandez curled in Swansea’s shot from Shelvey’s assist in the 73rd minute to place the game beyond the visitors’ reach.
Bony added the icing on the cake -his 24th goal of the season- from an injury-time spot-kick, after Villa defender Nathan Baker hacked down Marvin Emnes in the vital area and the referee signaled a penalty.
The loss, Villa’s fifth in their last six matches, means Paul Lambert’s side are four points above the relegation zone with 35 points from 35 games, while Swansea sits 12th in the league table on 39 points with two more matches left.
