Injured Yobo Ruled Out of Old Trafford Trip

Norwich City will be without on loan defender Joseph Yobo when they visit Manchester United in Saturday’s late afternoon Premier League kick-off.

The Nigeria international, who also missed last weekend’s 3-2 loss at title favourites Liverpool, has not fully recovered from a calf injury.

Shedding more light on the ‘Canaries” injury concern on Thursday, manager Neil Adams confirmed Yobo could return to training next week ahead of Chelsea’s visit to Carrow Road.

“Joseph (Yobo) is still having treatment on his calf but we are hopeful of getting him back in on Monday.

“He still has a problem and he won’t be ready for this weekend,” Adams said.

Midfielder Elliott Bennett is fit and in line for a return after completing another 90 minutes for the Under-21s.

“Elliott will be in the squad. He just needed games and I think he’s proved that. He’s played three and a half games for the Under-21s and he’s ready now,” the manager said.

“His knee is fine and all the medical people we spoke to say he’s ready if needs be, so we’re delighted for him.”

Norwich are 17th on the league standings, two points above the relegation zone.
