National Chairman of Jama’atul Izalatil Bid’ah Wa’iqamatus Sunnah (JIBWIS) Sheik Abdullahi Bala Lau has raised the alarm that most of the killings in the northern part of the country was aimed at destroying Muslims in the region.
He made this known at a press briefing organized by JIBWIS in Katsina on Monday.
According to him, the Boko Haram insurgency was a thing of the past and that the present situation was part of a malicious conspiracy to eradicate Muslims across the country.
Sheik Lau alleged that Nigeria was moving in an abnormal direction due to the open display of bias against northern Muslims by the leadership of the country.
He said: “We are in a bad era of leadership in the country and only prayers can solve the problem since the government has failed, particularly in the area of security”.
The Islamic cleric noted that the only solution was for Muslims to engage in serious prayers and fasting if peace is to be restored to the country.
“The sit and look attitude of the federal government towards the recent kidnap of over 100 girl students in Chibok is an indication of a failed government”, he said.
Sheik Lau said even the leadership of Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has stopped blaming the killings on Muslims, adding that the government is hiding under the umbrella of Boko Haram to kill innocent Muslims.
He said: “The recent letter of former President Obasanjo to President Jonathan ‘before it is too late’ has captured what is really happening in the country”.
He warned that the association will not fold its arms and watch the malicious agenda against Muslims, adding that it will continue to demand justice for popular Zaria preacher, Sheik Auwal Albani, who was killed last February and which the Boko Haram sect has since claimed responsibilty.
