Kaduna APC Ward Congress Rescheduled For April 17

APC-Logo1The Kaduna State chapter of All Progressives Congress (APC) has fixed Thursday, April 17 for the election of its officials in the 255 wards in the state.

Mr A. B. Mahmud, secretary of the APC election committee in the state, disclosed this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) yesterday in Kaduna.

NAN recalls that the congress was earlier scheduled to hold on April 5, but was shifted indefinitely following efforts to reconcile various interest groups in the party by the APC National Secretariat.

Mahmud said the training of officials to conduct the election was ongoing, adding that the committee had made adequate arrangements to ensure a crisis-free congress.

“The delay in conducting the congress was to prepare adequately. Legal and other logistical requirements relating to a successful conduct of the congress are already in place and we are likely to have a well organised congress”, he said.

According to him, the organising committee has concluded a stakeholders’ meeting where all contending issues were addressed.

“There is nothing to worry about; all necessary arrangements have been put in place for the peaceful conduct of the congress”, he said.

Mahmud said the date for the local government congress, which was also shifted, would be announced in due course. (NAN)
