Commercial activities in Ipetumodu, headquarters of Ife North Local Government Area of Osun State, were yesterday grinded to a halt as the State Governor, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola led dignitaries from across the country including former Governor of Abia state, Dr Orji Uzor Kalu in a road show tagged “walk to live”.

Kalu, who hailed the achievements of Mr. Aregbesola said “though I am a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) I cannot close my eyes on the numerous achievements the government of Mr. Aregbesola has recorded which spread across almost all areas of human life”.

The former Governor, who extolled the leadership style of Governor Aregbesola, noted that the present administration in the state has performed beyond expectations of people from outside the state.

Addressing a mammoth crowd of All Progressives Party (APC) members at Origbo Community Unity School, Ipetumodu, Kalu said the sterling performance of the state governor impressed him and has increased his admiration for Aregbesola, adding that the governor needs the support of all and sundry irrespective of political affiliation.

According to him, “I am still a member of the Peoples Democratic Party, but what I have heard and seen about your governor made me to come out in the open to support the good work he is doing in this state.

“Few days that I have spent here and the way his people talked about him truly showed that governor Aregbesola deserves another term to complete the good work that the Lord has used him to start during his first term”.

He charged the people of the state to ignore allegations that Aregbesola wants to Islamise the state, saying some politicians are only at work to use the governor’s strong faith in Islam to mislead people.

Also speaking at the occasion, Senator Emanuel Onwe, who accompanied Kalu, hailed Governor Aregbesola for the level of development in Osun State, stressed that the state has become a reference point for good governance in Nigeria.

He said, “With what I have seen in Osun, I have come to the conclusion that the PDP has nothing to offer in this state. We are on a tour of Southwest. And we have seen it all in the zone”.

“This is a state where you can see true development, a state where the government is committed to the development of its state and his people. We will not because of our party divides not to say the truth”, he stated.

Onwe added, “We have seen ourselves since we arrived in Osun State yesterday; we will go away from this place to tell our friends in the PDP that their party lacks the capacity and antecedents to meet up with the performances of Aregbesola in Osun”.

In his response, Aregbesola, who appreciated the former Abia governor, urged all politicians to always say the truth irrespective of political differences.

He promised that his administration would continue to serve the people of the state, even as he solicited the support and co-operation of all and sundry in the state.
