He made the assertion on a local TV programme, while speaking on the security challenges in the country.

Dehinde explained that the Nigerian police are not trained to fight war but to quell civil routs.

The security analyst, who described the happenings in the country as war situation, said Nigeria is at war.

“The fact that the police are not trained to fight war makes them handicapped” he said.

According to him, police does not have the kind of capacity that can be used to face a group like Boko Haram.

“The military rule we had for such a long time already emasculated the Nigeria police. They are trying to find their feet, they are not there yet” he said.

Meanwhile, on the issue of a reform programme that had been embarked upon by the Federal Government for the police, Dehinde said: “If there is no peace development cannot take place. There is a lot of insanity going on in the police force”.

He advised the federal government to block the Cameroun borders, and also solicit assistance from France.

Dehinde alleged that Cameroun might be supporting the insurgents.

The security analyst frowned at Nigerians insulting the government, and urged them to help in the fight against terrorism.

“It is a collective effort and the government alone cannot fight this” Dehinde said.
