Anthony Ujah’s second-half equaliser was sufficient for Bundelsiga B leaders FC Cologne to force relegation battlers FC Ingolstadt 04 to a 1-1 draw at the Audi Sportpark on Friday.
Cologne failed to stamp their feet on the proceedings at the blast of the whistle and conceded shortly after the half-hour mark through a Moritz Hofmann strike from close range.
The Nigeria international’s superb solo effort in the 61st minute restored parity for the visiting Rhinelanders, who are rest assured of a place in the German top flight next season.
Cologne top the Division 2 league table with 65 points from 32 games.
Ujah, who has featured in all matches for his club, has now scored ten league goals so far.
In France, Sunday Mba got back to goal-scoring form for Ligue 2’s CA Bastia, who are destined to move down the French hierarchy, in a 2-2 home draw with Arles-Avignon on Friday.
The Super Eagles midfielder opened scoring for Bastia within seven minutes of kick-off.
The goal is Mba’s third in the league, and has also scored three more in the cup campaign.
CA Bastia have been relegated from the French Division 2. They have notched up 22 points in 34 games with four round of matches left.
Former Nigeria youth international, John Owoeri, was among the goals for his top flight club Atvidabergs in a 3-2 loss to Orebro on Friday.
Owoeri scored a brace in the 47th and 64th minutes of the loss and was also cautioned in the 74th minute.
