Tim Howard Signs Everton Contract Extension

Everton goalkeeper Tim Howard has penned down a two-year contract extension, which will have him remain at Goodison Park until 2019.

The United States international joined the ‘Toffees’ from Manchester United in 2006 and has featured in 342 games, making him the 22nd man in the Merseyside club’s list of appearances.

The 35-year-old initially joined Everton on loan before making the move permanent in 2007. He has impressed with the side, in their bid for a top four finish- this season- and have as well worn the captain band in the absence of Phil Jagielka and Leon Osman.

“To have Tim performing as he has this season, I cannot see past him to choose the best goalkeeper in the league,” said manager Roberto Martinez.

Howard set a Premier League club record of 16 clean sheets in the 2008-09 season.

The USMNT could bank on his experience at the 2014 Fifa World Cup in Brazil, as they look to pit their wit against Germany, Portugal and Ghana.

“For him, in such an important year with the World Cup around the corner, to commit his future for the long term is an incredible moment for the dressing room,” Martinez added.
