Azarenka Pulls Out of French Open

Victoria Azarenka has ruled herself out of the 2014 French Open because of a foot injury.

The world number five twitted: “Hi guys- unfortunately I will not be able to compete in Roland Garros this year.

“Working hard on my recovery and getting back on the court.”

The Belarussian has played just one match in the past two months due to the injury.

He lost to American Lauren Davis at Idian Wells in early March, after losing his Australian Open title defence in January, where she was knocked out in the quarter-finals by Poland’s Agnieszka Radwanska.

The two-time Australian Open champion will now target a return to full fitness ahead of Wimbledon, which starts on 30 June.

The Roland Garros- the second Grand Slam of the year- begins on 26 May.
