Boko Haram: Civil Society Groups Stage Protests In Katsina Over FG’s Acceptance Of Foreign Intervention

boko-haram-jonathanA coalition of civil society organisations in Katsina State on Thursday staged a peaceful demonstration against foreign intervention sought by Nigeria in addressing its security challenges.

President Goodluck Jonathan had sought for and received offers of assistance from the U.S, China and U.K at the last count, to help Nigeria surmount the Boko Haram insurgency.

During the protest which held in the state capital, spokesman for the coalition, Bashir Dauda, described the foreign intervention as counterproductive.

According to him, “What is happening in Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Somalia are indications that foreign countries could not offer any remedy”.

The protesters also registered their grievances over the state of insecurity in the country and urged the president to improve his relationship with governors whose states have been ravaged by insurgents as well as direct security agencies to tighten security across the country’s borders.

Dauda added that “It is a disgrace if the almighty federal government fails to rescue the abducted students and others who are in the captivity of Boko Haram as sex slaves”.

  5. Definitely these protesters are boko haram members in embryo. I fear you o. So you are not touched by what these children and their parents are going through. The southerners are even more touched by this awful event and you see everything evil in somebody coming to the aid of those children. In fact, I now have the impression that human life has no meaning to you up there. I wish those girls are your daughters and siblings, then you will know what it means to be under bondage of wicked killers like the boko haram group.
