British Airways Plane Makes Emergency Landing As Nigerian Woman Goes Into Labour

This is quite weird, didn’t she know her due date? And it’s shocking that a woman would leave London to come to Nigeria to have a child.

Anyways, a Boeing 777 with 296 passengers aboard, en-route to London from Abuja had  to make an emergency landing on a Spanish island when a woman gave birth in business class.

The woman in question was a 30-year-old Nigerian woman and she went into labour 36,000 feet up, causing the pilot of the British Airways plane to divert to Palma de Mallorca, in the Balearic Islands.

The plane touched down and she was raced to hospital with her newborn who had been delivered at the island’s Palma Son Sant Joan airport with the help of the cabin crew.
Both the mother and her premature newborn remain in hospital but are said to be stable.
A spokesman for British Airways said: –

‘Our cabin crew, who are trained in birthing procedures, assisted with the delivery of a baby on board our flight from Abuja. The Captain diverted the aircraft to Palma so that mum and baby could be taken to hospital. We are in touch and will continue to provide any support and help we can. We wish the mother and her little one all the very best.’

The woman was 26 weeks into her pregnancy when she went into labour.
