Man Calls 911 To Ask Where He Can ‘Buy Some Marijuana This Morning’

An Oregon man recently called a Washington County 911 dispatcher at 9:41 p.m. to ask where he could buy some marijuana “this morning.”

The call was a large enough non-emergency that the dispatch center released the audio of the call on Facebook as part of its “You called 911 for that?!” campaign. “This is just one of many examples of what you shouldn’t be calling 9-1-1 for,” the agency wrote.

The WCCCA dispatch center launched the campaign to educate people on the appropriate use of 911, dispatch spokesman Mark Chandler told the Oregonian.

The released calls are altered to disguise the voices of the callers.

Here’s a transcript of the call:

Man: Where can I get some marijuana?911: Excuse me?

Man: Where can I buy some marijuana this morning?

911: Do you realize you called the police department?

Man: No I didn’t. That’s very interesting. Well, let me ask you the same question. (long pause) It’s a legitimate question.

911: Which question is that?

Man: Where can I buy some marijuana this morning?

After the dispatcher told the man she didn’t know the answer to his question, he thanked her and hung up. Hillsboro police were still dispatched to check on him.
